I’ve been a Linux user for many, many years, so I was a little worried when I pressed the volume button on a fresh XFCE install on Fedora and nothing happened. Oddly enough, the monitor and backlit keyboard brightness buttons worked fine. Expecting to dust off my old skills with
xev, I began to search my normal forums for ideas.
Much to my surprise though, I quickly found this stackexchange forum that suggested I simply needed to add an instance of the PulseAudio Plugin to my default panel. Even more surprisingly, it worked!
I don’t know why this isn’t installed by default, but no install is perfect. I’ll take it!
